Podomoro University Students Visit PT Mastrada, Exploring F&B Machinery Technology
To broaden practical insights beyond the classroom, Podomoro University students recently conducted an industrial visit to the PT Mastrada facility. This activity provided an exclusive opportunity for the students to directly experience operating various international-standard Food & Beverage (F&B) equipment technologies that serve as the backbone of the modern culinary industry.
Nicholas and Shela, student representatives from Podomoro University who participated in the event, shared their enthusiasm. This visit was designed so that students not only understand the theory but also the real-world practices of commercial kitchen operations.
"We learned so much today at PT Mastrada. We were educated on bulk production systems, proper storaging methods, and techniques for using vacuum machines. All of this knowledge is certainly very applicable and beneficial for us," they said enthusiastically.
Exploring Global-Standard Premium Machines
The visit became even more engaging when PT Mastrada introduced their line of cutting-edge, flagship machines widely used by leading culinary businesses. Students were given an in-depth introduction to the German automatic coffee machine, WMF, known for its precision and flavor consistency, as well as the legendary ice cream maker from Taylor.
Not stopping there, the students' attention was also drawn to a demonstration of the high-speed oven, Merrychef. The performance of this machine successfully amazed the participants. In a cooking demo, Merrychef proved its capability by perfectly heating a grilled cheese sandwich in just 30 seconds! The result was extraordinary—the inside was chewy with perfectly melted cheese, while the outside maintained a crispy texture.
Student Impressions and Hopes for Future Collaboration
The experience of interacting directly with this advanced equipment left a lasting impression. When asked about their favorite machines, the students' answers varied. One student admitted to being most impressed by the Combi Oven, noting that this machine is a premium investment with highly versatile functions that are vital in a professional kitchen.
On the other hand, another student favored the Merrychef. The reason being, this machine offers exceptional time efficiency, a crucial factor that greatly aids the smooth flow of food production, both in restaurants and for independent use.
This highly applicable and educational visit is expected to be a great starting point. "Hopefully, in the future, there will be more follow-up collaborations with PT Mastrada that involve the creativity of Podomoro University students," they hoped.
This activity is part of the "Mastrada Goes to Campus" program, an initiative by PT Mastrada to bridge the professional kitchen equipment industry with the world of education. After Podomoro University, which campus will be PT Mastrada's next educational destination? Let's wait and see !
